BC Women’s has this ideological approach towards breastfeeding. They do all sorts of things to support their ideology and encourage breastfeeding like give free breastfeeding classes, not giving pacifiers to newborns, not providing formula samples to families when leaving the hospital, they even got a human (donor) milk bank, etc…The class is two hours long. The first hour is a general overview on breastfeeding - nothing you can’t read anywhere else. The second hour is a movie done in Norway – very informative, lots of boobs.

Prenatal In a Day Workshop at BC Women’s $150 CAD
One 7-hour condensed class, which covers labour and birth, coping skills, and medical aids plus Hospital orientation. The up side: Good online materials, and some good video materials in class. The Hospital orientation tour was also good to have. The down side: Sitting in circle and doing all sorts of group dynamic games and group discussions was a bit off character and not what we expected from this type of Workshop…
Pregnancy & Labour Body Ball Class $33 CAD
I have this Exercise Ball (aka Birthing Ball or Body Ball) for three years now – but I never bothered to figure out what to do with it. When I came across this workshop at the Roundhouse community center in Yaletown, it seems like a good idea.
There were 5 other ladies in class – all around week 30 of pregnancy.We learnt and practiced prenatal exercises and labour positions using the ball. Supposedly using a body ball in labour could lead to a shorter and less painful labour.
All in all, a very nice class – the instructor was awesome and very knowledgeable. We also got a nice handout with all the exercises we've practiced.
